Carolyn Khoo

MFHT
Owner & Therapist

I’ve always been a lover of receiving massages, but I’ve always struggled to find the right therapist for me. Almost all the therapists I met - while claiming to tailor the treatment to me – failed to really listen to my needs. They were the experts “who knew better”, yet I’ve always left the treatment either unimproved or worse, with pain in areas which did not hurt before.

I’ve also always enjoyed giving massages to friends and family. So, 7 years ago, while working in an office, I got myself trained as a qualified massage therapist, set up Khoo Massage Therapies, and never looked back.

I wanted to provide the kind of massage service I’ve always wanted. One where my clients have a say in how their treatments go. One where their hard-earned money isn’t paid towards filling out forms or doing squats to gauge how balanced their hips are when all they really wanted was more attention on their stiff shoulders.

Finding the right therapist is like finding the right hairdresser or gardener. It can be a matter of taste or preference. Some prefer the more spiritual practitioners who are versed in energy and crystal healing. Others prefer a more clinical setting to address sports/physio-based issues.

What I offer is neither of the above. From years of playing the piano, I have developed an expressive style of massage that flows to the music I have carefully curated. My piano playing abilities have also given me the skill to adapt my strength to suit your requirements, without compromising on efficacy and relaxation.

My area of interest and specialism lies in the upper body i.e., head, neck, face, jaw, shoulders, and upper back. I suffer from migraines, TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction), Tinnitus, neck/shoulder tension and knots on shoulder blades. I spent years self-treating and developed various effective techniques that has helped many of my clients through the years.

I’m a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists and am qualified in Swedish/Holistic Massage (ITEC), Deep Tissue, Pregnancy, Chair, Hot Stones, Thai Table, Thai Foot, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), Natural Facelift (CTHA) and Sports Massage Level 3 (ITEC/VCTC).

I believe the best treatment should be collaborative and led by the you, the client, because no one knows their own body better than themselves.
